My first try at creating a concrete walkway - I began on June 5, 2007 - is shown below.  I even got creative and added leaves for a special texture effect on some of the surfaces!  Click these images to see the larger ones (they will open in a new window). I am using the Quikrete Walkmaker mold and the Quikrete that has fiber in it to better prevent cracking.  I am also using a log end mold for stepping stones that I foound on eBay and had shipped from Canada.

DAY 1 - 06-05-2007
marking path marking path First form started!
Placing form for second pad leaf patterns in 1st pad Second one is formed now
Both are in place The newer one looks more wet than the 1st one See the green leaves on the concrete?
View from stairs looking down Colors and mold for log end stepping stone Both concrete pads looking down on them - starting to cure I think
deciding where the third walkway form will go Determining the direction of the "stones" when placing the next row View of concrete from above. Oops... sorry! Tht red stuff is my hair (it is NOT in the concrete!)

Whew!  Now I'm tired! Lifting 80 lb bags of Quikrete is not so easy for someone my age, I am learning.... And then mixing it.  The results are very satisfying though, at least so far. :-)

Mike and I look forward to seeing our path when it is finished. :-)
